"People around the world are devastated by the coronavirus outbreak," he said. So instead of relying on other countries for national and international needs, we have started our regular research as well as research work on making Covid-19 disease detection kits, vaccines and medicines. ”
Globe Biotech Ltd.'s head of research and development, Dr.Asif Mahmood told reporters about the vaccine. .
He said they had been "successful" in testing the vaccine on rabbits. They are hopeful that it will be successful in human body too.
At the press conference, he said that according to the US National Center for Biotechnology Information or NCBI virus database, 5,843 complete genome sequences have been submitted worldwide till Tuesday. Of these, 6 have been submitted from Bangladesh.
“By checking the sequence with the Bio-informatics tool, we confirm our ticker target. I have submitted the complete coding sequence of that target to the NCBI virus database in the United States, which has already been recognized and published by the NCBI. ”
Dr. Asif said they started testing the possible vaccine on rabbits on June 10 after completing preliminary work on March 8.
"We isolated them on the 10th and on June 12 we did the pre-immune serum collection. I did the analysis after 14 days. ”
Vaccines for any disease are tested experimentally in the human body after passing various stages of testing, which are considered as vaccines only after successful approval of the concerned authorities.
Asif said they would conduct another clinical trial on the animal as per the rules.
"It will take us six to eight weeks. We will now take the matter to the concerned department of the government. We will then take the next step according to the guidelines given to them. The protocol will be prepared soon and handed over to the concerned government authorities for clinical trials on human bodies. ”
However, according to the protocol, they have not yet sought any permission from the Department of Drug Administration and the Bangladesh Medical Research Council (BMRC).
Since the invention of the vaccine by the big companies of different countries of the world, news of various developments have been coming in the media regularly, they are also reporting it. But the announcement of the Bangladeshi company came suddenly.
